pointed out that buying land now is less expensive than it will be later on. <br />Assistant Administrator Baird clarified that the optional sales tax funds have not yet <br />been spent. The Board has only proposed how they want to use that money in the next 5 <br />years. <br />Vice Chairman Ginn brought out that a proposed spending plan has been done every <br />5 years at a public hearing in order to keep the public informed. <br />Chairman Macht thought what the LAAC has done and what the bonds have made <br />possible is very significant. He noted that the western shore of the Indian River Lagoon from <br />the Vero Beach city limits to the south county line is almost completely under :.ontrol by the <br />County or other government agencies. No development will occur on those riparian lands <br />and they comprise an important recharge area. Also, the several miles of shoreline of the <br />Lost Tree Islands will not pollute the river by run-off. <br />Vice Chairman Ginn noted that Conservation Land Manager Beth Powell is putting <br />together a plan for how certain parcels can be used. Many people have not gone out to see <br />our conservation properties. She will try to get a brochure together to keep the public <br />informed. <br />13.0.1.
