Chandler, County Administrator FROM : Thomas Frame, General Services Director ikco. t' a« SUBJECT: Selection of Edlund Dritenbas as the Design Professional for Health Department Expansion for Dental Facilities (RFQm3027) . BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On October 10, 2000, the Board of County Commissioners authorized the Request for Qualifications (RFQ-3027) for architectural services for the Health Department Building expansion to accommodate expanded dental services. Accordingly, the RFQ was published in the Press Journal on October 26 and November 2, 2000. In addition, DemandStar. com broadcast the RFQ commencing on October 27, 2000 and was received by 351 vendors. In response to these solicitations, seventeen vendors contacted the Purchasing Division and requested or picked up copies of the RFQ . Subsequently, on Friday November 17, 2000, the deadline for submitting responses, only one response was submitted . That response was from the Vero Beach firm, Edlund & Dritenbas Architects, P. A. RECOMMENDATION : Since there is only one firm that responded, there is no way to prepare a shortlist of three firms from which to negotiate an agreement for the requested design. In light of the need to move forward with this project, it is recommended that Edlund & Dritenbas be selected as the firm with which to negotiate an agreement for the need expansion design . Upon successful negotiations, a proposed agreement shall be brought back to the Board for its consideration. ON MOTION by Commissioner Stanbridge, SECONDED by Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously selected Edlund & Dritenbas as the firm with which to negotiate an agreement for the expansion design , as recommended by staff.
