ACCEPTANCE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />PERFORMANCE GRANT FUNDING AND APPROVAL OF <br />EXPENDITURES - BID #4043 - DON REID FORD, INC. <br />(2002 FORD WINDSTAR VAN) <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of January 29, 2002: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: John King, Director <br />Department of Emergency Se es <br />FROM: Nathan McCollum, Emergency Management Coordinator <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: January 29, 2002 <br />SUBJECT: Acceptance of Emergency Management Performance Grant Funding and Approval of <br />Expenditures. <br />On September 4, 2001, the Board approved the State Funded Sub -grant Agreement (contract number 02CP- <br />04 10 40 01 031) which provides state and federal disaster preparedness finding. This year, the agreement <br />included the Emergency Management Preparedness Agreement (EMPA) and the Emergency Management <br />Performance Grant (EMPG), formally known as the State & Local Agreement. Both of these grants are <br />awarded annually to every county m Florida in order to enhance the capability of the local Emergency <br />Management agency. <br />On August 7, 2001, the Board approved the FY 01/02 Hazardous Materials Emergency Planning Agreement <br />(contract number 02CP-11-10-40-22-023) and deferred expenditures until EMPG approval. The September <br />4, 2001, approved agreement included funding in the amount of $102,974.00 for salaries and benefits from the <br />EMPA. It did not include the EMPG funding because the United States Congress had not approved the 2002 <br />budget. We have received notice from the Florida Division ofEmergency Management that the EMPG funding <br />has been passed by Congress and is now available for county emergency management expenditures. The <br />funding now available is $31,828.00 from EMPG and $4,259.00 from Hazardous Materials Emergency <br />Planning Agreement. Total funding available is $36,087.00. <br />In November 2001, the vehicle used by Emergency Management staff was hit and severely damaged by a <br />careless driver.
