the issue that was put forward that people are coming from other counties in the state to <br />converge on Indian River County. This is not true because they cannot afford to live here <br />even with affordable housing. <br />At this point, Chairman Ginn gave Ms. Pepper one more minute. <br />Ms. Pepper advised that 25% of the SHIP funds are to be used as an incentive for <br />rental housing which is not enough to result in a successful application for affordable <br />housing. The Board is on the right track in looking at the need in relation to the surrounding <br />area as well as what Indian River County should offer as incentives for affordable housing. <br />Prior to calling for the vote, Chairman Ginn warned the Commissioners that they were <br />going way out on a limb for these impact fees and she hoped they understood the financial <br />impact to the County. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />carried 4-1, Chairman Ginn opposed. <br />11.B.1.
