<br /> SUBJECT: Purchase of Dispatch Chairs from the State contract Vendor for the Two E911 Public
<br /> Safety Answering Points (PSAP ) from E911 Surcharge Funds
<br /> The two (2 ) E911 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) are requesting assistance with the
<br /> purchase of new chairs for the console positions . The chairs currently being used are several years
<br /> old and are requiring replacement of arm rests, wheel rollers, padding, and generally, are in need of
<br /> replacement . The dispatch/call taker console positions are staffed twenty-four hours a day, 365 days
<br /> a year, and a substantial amount of wear and tear occur with constant use . The new chairs being
<br /> suggested for purchase are designed for comfort and compatibility with the intensive use that occurs
<br /> in this type of intensive activity communications environment .
<br /> Both PSAP ' s are requesting the Steeicase Leap ergonomic correct chair. The Leap chair offers a
<br /> contour fit for the user ' s spine and changes position as the user changes position. It also offers
<br /> separate controls for the upper and lower back, adjustable arm rests, oversized casters, natural glide
<br /> system, several back styles, and many fabric choices . The chairs are available on state contract and
<br /> are offered by American Business Interiors of Melbourne, Florida .
<br /> The Indian River County Sheriffs Office is requesting ten ( 10) chairs; seven ( 7) high-back and three
<br /> (3 ) full back chairs . The Vero Beach Police Department is requesting three ( 3 ) high-back chairs . The
<br /> high-back chairs are $476 . 49 each and the full-back chairs are $456 . 04 each . Additionally, there is
<br /> a $ 15 . 00 charge per chair for the fabric protector and $20 . 00 per chair for receiving, delivery , and
