believe it should be an outside, independent consultant as opposed to staff doing yet another <br />study, or the IAFF, or the Teamsters. The fundamental question is, is there a need for change <br />in the manner in which we deliver our services. From his perspective, he thought the County <br />had quite an excellent level of services both in fire and rescue, particularly fora community <br />of our size. <br />Commissioner Macht felt that Administrator Chandler's opinion is shared by many <br />others who have been very complimentary of our emergency services. <br />Commissioner Adams thought that ESDAC felt the issue was over their head and that <br />it was too politically charged at this point. The ultimate decision rests with the Board of <br />County Commissioners. Obviously, if nothing is done, a lot of money will be saved. But <br />the Board will need to address the issue sometime. <br />In response to Vice Chairman Stanbridge concerning a time frame, Administrator <br />Chandler thought it would take several months since a draft RFP would have to be developed <br />to come back before the Board. <br />Commissioner Macht felt a great deal of money would be expended to solve a <br />political situation and suggested putting it off for several months. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED BY <br />Chairman Ginn, the Board unanimously agreed not to take any <br />action on this recommendation. <br />March 20, 2001 <br />B1(i i /' 668 <br />-t <br />196 <br />
