13.A. CHAIRMAN STANBRIDGE - UPDATES - SCHOOL BUS <br />ACCIDENT COMMENTS <br />Chairman Stanbridge recounted a recent school bus/tractor trailer accident and <br />complimented all the emergency services personnel: deputies, firefighters, and paramedics <br />for working well together in responding to this accident. <br />Commissioner Adams also congratulated the School Board on their notification <br />process to parents of students who were passengers on the bus <br />13.11 PROPOSED LEGISLATION CONCERNING AMERICANS <br />WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) COMPLIANCE FOR ELECTIONS <br />(SENATE BILL 1504) <br />Commissioner Ginn expressed her concerns with this proposed legislation and called <br />attention to the places she had marked in a copy of the proposed bill: particularly Section 3 <br />on page 5 concerning closed captioning; the top of page 10 concerning accessibility at <br />polling places; page 11 proposing an accessibility survey; page 20 concerning two issues; <br />and pages 21 and 23. (CLERK'S NOTE- COPY OF BILL 1504 IS ON FILE WITH THE <br />BACKUP IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD ) <br />There was a brief discussion concerning these additional "unfunded mandates" and <br />the fact that now is a good time to contact our Legislators since this bill is still in committee. <br />Commissioner Adams suggested Commissioner Ginn follow through on this; <br />Commissioner Ginn agreed to pursue this issue and report back to the Board. <br />13.E. COMMISSIONER MACHT - CONSIDERATION OF THE <br />EFFECTS OF THE RECENTLY APPROVED COMPREHENSIVE <br />POLICY FOR FUNDING OUTSIDE AGENCIES <br />Commissioner Macht was concerned about a previous decision made by the Board <br />setting a comprehensive policy for funding outside agencies.
