ORDINANCE NO, 2002- 007 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, AMENDING INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />CODE CHAPTER 401, BUILDING CODES, TO <br />ADOPT THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE; <br />PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING <br />FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Florida legislature has enacted the "Florida Building <br />Codes Act" with the intention to provide a mechanism for uniform adoption, updating <br />amendment, interpretation, and enforcement of a single, unified statewide building <br />code, to be called the Florida Building Code which consists of a single set of <br />documents that apply to the design construction, erection, alteration, modification, <br />repair, or demolition of public or private buildings, structures, or facilities in this state <br />and to the enforcement of such requirements and which will allow the effective and <br />reasonable protection for public safety, health, and general welfare for all the people <br />of. Florida at the most reasonable cost to the consumer; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Building Code shall be applied, administered, <br />and enforced uniformly and consistently from jurisdiction to jurisdiction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida legislature has directed the Florida Building <br />Commission to adopt by rule, the Florida Building Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 401 of the Code of Indian River County currently <br />adopts codes other than the Florida Building Code which pursuant to state law must <br />be repealed or amended, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. <br />Chapter 401. Building Codes, of the Code of Indian River County is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />PART I.
