The photographs showed the architectural styles desired <br />for the future During his presentation he indicated the preferred looks -the city is trying to <br />achieve. He yielded the podium to the next speaker and stated he looked forward to working <br />with the County to improve the CR 512 corridor. <br />Marcela Cambior, TCRPC's Urban Design Director, recounted the origination ofthe <br />partnership between Sebastian and the TCRPC relative to the 2-1/2 miles of CR 512 through <br />the City of Sebastian. She narrated additional photographs starting with the citizens master <br />plan. The citizens believe that Sebastian is a very special place and are very concerned about <br />new development. Everyone is aware that new development will be coming in and wants <br />to insure it happens within their terms. They asked the citizens to define their vision for CR <br />512. One of the first things mentioned was landscaping. The citizens want several things <br />including a narrower street, heavily landscaped medians and corridors, shade, visible <br />sidewalks, restaurants, safer crossings, better lighting, special treatment at the main <br />intersections, parking of businesses to be connected, special entry features, traffic calming, <br />better architecture, a roundabout at Roseland Avenue, buffering in the residential areas, and <br />so forth. Some of the ideas were implemented into the master plan, some were not. <br />Changing the name of CR 512 was a very big item. It was proposed to call it Sebastian <br />Boulevard to make it feel more like part of the city. In the future, she will be addressing it <br />as Sebastian Boulevard. There was talk about a train station, land purchasing, redesign of <br />the Orange Heights neighborhood, and more parks to tie the fork back into the <br />neighborhoods, the waterfront, and preservation of the land along the entrance bridge. Ms. <br />Cambior pointed out there are four distinct sections of the roadway: the entrance to the city, <br />the commercial section, the fork, and where it intersects US 1. She then showed photographs <br />of each section and comparison photographs of sections of I 95 and CR 512.
