B . 2001 UPDATED STATEWIDE MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT FOR DISASTER RESPONSE - STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS The Board reviewed a Memorandum of April 24 , 2001 : TO : Honorable Board of County Commissioners THROUGH : Douglas Wright, Director Department of Emergency Services ti v FROM : Nathan McCollum, Emergency Management Coordinator Department of Emergency Services DATE : April 24, 2001 SUBJECT: Approval of Updated Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement Between Indian River County and State of Florida Department of Community Affairs for Disaster Response On June 14, 1994 , the Board of County Commissioners approved the participation of Indian River County in the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement . This agreement provides procedures that allow adequate response, invoicing, and reimbursement when Indian River County BCC personnel and assets respond to disasters in Florida. Along with the County, all Indian River County municipalities also approved the original 1994 agreement . Since 1994, Florida has experienced numerous disasters such as Hurricane Erin, Hurricane Opal, 1998 brush fires, etc . During these events, it was discovered that all governmental entities needed to be included in the agreement . Currently, only state, county, and municipal governments are included in the agreement . Therefore, the updated agreement allows the inclusion of all independent governmental districts such as Water Management, School, Mosquito Control, Hospital, etc . The only modifications in the new agreement are associated with enhancing reimbursement procedures for Indian River County. All other procedures within the agreement are identified in the County ' s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan . The agreement does not require any new financial commitments by the County and does not commit the County to any guaranteed response during disasters . MAY 1 , 2001 Pb 070 - 64 -
