MW I
13 . C . COMMISSIONER FRAN B . ADAMS - CLARIFICATION
OF THE BOARD ' S INTENTIONS REGARDING ITEM
13 . C . FROM THE MARCH 20 2001 MEETING :
REQUEST FOR OUTSIDE CONSULTANT TO
EVALUATE EMERGENCY SERVICES FIREFIGHTERS
AND PARAMEDICS ) LEVEL OF SERVICE FROM
EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
Commissioner Adams wanted to clarify her understanding that the action the Board
took at its March 20 , 2001 meeting was not to move forward with the consultant .
Commissioner Macht confirmed that he felt a consultant would be a waste of money
as the County already employs several professionals who can do this work quite successfully .
He felt the whole matter has become a political issue when it should be a professional issue .
He believed that Emergency Services Director Doug Wright can handle the matter and that
he will bring recommendations back to the Board in a professional manner, removing this
issue from the political arena .
ON MOTION by Commissioner Stanbridge ,
SECONDED by Commissioner Macht, the Board
unanimously agreed to-return the issue to Emergency
Services Director Doug Wright and directed him to
bring recommendations back to the Board at a later
meeting .
MAY 19 2001
