Baird <br />Assistant County Administrator <br />FROM: Jason E Brown <br />Budget Manager <br />BACKGROUND <br />For the past twelve fiscal years, Indian River County has been allocated grant funds from the Flonda <br />Department of Law Enforcement to fund local anti-drug abuse programs. The Board has funded the <br />following programs the past two years: <br />Agency <br />1. Mufti -Agency Drug Enforcement <br />Unit (M.A.C.E.) <br />2. PREVENT (Substance Abuse <br />Council <br />Implementing <br />Agency <br />2000/2001 <br />2001/2002 <br />IRC Sheriff <br />$120,480 <br />$110,838 <br />3. Substance Abuse Council of IRC <br />Indian River County <br />Indian River County <br />TOTAL <br />$ 68,844 <br />$ 21,036 <br />$210,360 <br />$ 62,234 <br />$ 19,230 <br />$192,302 <br />The County received a letter dated March 11, 2002 from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement <br />(FDLE) stating that Indian River County has been allocated $159,323 in federal grant funds for FY <br />2002/2003, to fund local anti-drug abuse programs. This amount is an increase from the previous year <br />when Indian River County received $144,226 in federal funds. The letter also requested that the Board <br />serve as the coordinating unit of government in applying for the funds. At the commission meeting on <br />April 2, 2002,.the Board accepted the invitation to serve as the coordinating unit of government and <br />named Jason E.
