Sean McGuire, P.E. <br />Project Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Wabasso Causeway Park Improvements Project <br />Presentation of Ceremonial Check <br />by Florida Inland Navigation District <br />DATE: June 25, 2001 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) provided funding support for the design, <br />permitting, and construction of this project through their Waterways Assistance Program. <br />They awarded a grant for $22 000.00 in FY98-99 for design and permitting expenses, and <br />another grant for $120,000.00 in FY99-00 for construction costs. Their funds paid for <br />approximately 44% of the actual design and permitting expenses and 23% of the <br />construction costs for the rock revetment, sitework restroom budding, signage and shower <br />tower elements of the project. <br />Construction was completed by William Glover, Inc. in December of 2000. Staff is proud <br />of the design and workmanship on the project and are very appreciative of the funding <br />support provided by the district. <br />FIND's Commissioner for Indian River County, Mr. Ken Hoffman, and their Assistant <br />Executive Director, Mr. Mark Crosley would like to present a ceremonial check for the grant <br />amount, to the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Board accept the check. <br />Chairman Ginn introduced FIND Board Commissioner Ken Hoffman, FIND Assistant <br />Executive Director Mark Crosley, and Indian River County Project Engineer Sean McGuire. <br />Ken Hoffman credited his predecessor, Commissioner George Bunnell, for all his <br />work on the Wabasso Causeway project.
