De CP <br /> Chief, Environmental Planning <br /> DATE : September 12 , 2001 <br /> SUBJECT : Approval of Florida Communities Trust Closing Document for County <br /> Cost-Share Purchase of the Walker Parcels of the Oyster Bar <br /> Salt Marsh Environmental Land Acquisition Project <br /> It is requested that the information herein presented be given formal consideration by the Board of County <br /> Commissioners at its regular meeting of September 18 , 2001 . <br /> DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br /> The Board of County Commissioners , at a public hearing on June 12 , 2001 , approved county purchase of <br /> the ± 4 . 95 acre Walker parcels of the Oyster Bar Salt Marsh project using environmental land bond funds . <br /> The property is being purchased with 50% cost-share funding from the Florida Communities Trust ( FCT) . <br /> Attached, for the Board ' s approval consideration, is an FCT document entitled "Purchaser ' s Reconciliation <br /> of Total Project Costs " required by the FCT for closing of the cost- share purchase . <br /> ANALYSIS <br /> The Purchaser ' s Reconciliation of Total Project Costs statement provides a breakdown of acquisition costs , <br /> and details concerning the cost-share amount that the County will receive from the FCT for the purchase . <br /> As calculated, the total amount of the FCT grant award that the County will receive for the Walker parcels <br /> is $40 ,437 . 25 . <br /> The County ' s obligations under the FCT cost- share grant is consistent with the objectives of the County ' s <br /> environmental lands program . Since the County has committed, under its own objectives , to managing the <br /> properties for conservation with limited public access , it is staff s position that the Board should approve the <br /> herein described document and proceed to obtain S40 ,43725 from the FCT for the purchase . <br /> SEPTEMBER 18 , 2001 i' u <br /> - 33 - <br />
