On September 18, 1991 the City of Vero Beach entered into a 16 year lease extension <br />agreement with Indian River County for the 16th Street ball field property. The City of Vero <br />Beach has sent formal notification of the City's desire to terminate the lease and transfer <br />maintenance responsibility for the 16`h Street ball field complex to the County effective <br />September 30, 2002. <br />Indian River County School Board has requested permission to use the 16th Street ball <br />field complex parking for their sophomore students. The request is for approximately 67 parking <br />spaces from the hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. This should not interfere with any programs we <br />currently hold, therefore staff has no problem allowing the school to use the parking <br />Recommendation <br />Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners accept the formal notification <br />from the City of Vero Beach terminating the lease on the 16th Street ball fields effective <br />September 30, 2002, and authorize staff to work on an agreement with the School Board for the <br />parking spaces. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED BY <br />Commissioner Ginn, the Board unanimously accepted <br />notification from the City of Vero Beach terminating the lease <br />on the 16th Street ball fields effective September 30, 2002, and <br />authorized staff to work on an agreement with the Indian River <br />County School Board for the parking spaces as further outlined <br />in the memorandum, as recommended in the memorandum. <br />LETTER OF TERMINATION IS ON FILE WITH THE BACKUP <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />7.M.
