ALTERNATIVE WATER SUPPLY <br />Commissioner Solari recapped his memorandum dated January 28, 2014, regarding an <br />alternative water supply. He requested the Board consider a feasibility study that would develop <br />a fresh surface water system complete with a reservoir system, and to also request that St. John's <br />River Water Management District (SJRWMD) provide a portion of the funding. <br />Discussion ensued between staff and the Commissioners as they sought and received <br />additional information regarding the surface water project; future permitted capacity; and the <br />demand loads of projected growth percentages. <br />Director of Utility Services Vincent Burke explained a recent capacity analysis study that <br />staff performed to examine our existing demands our built -out capacity, and the constraints that <br />the SJRWMD has put on the County. He stated that the County has a 20 -year consumptive use <br />permit which expires in 2030 plateaus in 2021 with the allowable withdrawal that the District <br />permits, and at that time the demands will be re -analyzed. <br />Further discussion ensued among the Board regarding the quantity and quality of water <br />going into the Lagoon, the alternative water supply, revisiting the 2007 Alternative Water Supply <br />Master Plan study, alternatives to supply water, permitted capacity, and the consumptive use <br />permit <br />February 4, 2014 18 <br />
