i <br />Chairman Wheeler, addressing Ms. Renzi's question, relayed that Children's Services, <br />even after the 5% reduction, would be receiving $623,890. <br />Commissioner Flescher sought and received details as to why 3% was not targeted for <br />Children's Services. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION, by a 2-3 vote <br />(Commissioners Davis, Solari and Wheeler opposed), the <br />MOTION FAILED. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Solari, SECONDED by <br />Chairman Wheeler, by a 3-2 vote (Commissioners <br />Flescher and O'Bryan opposed), the Board approved a 5% <br />reduction in funding for Children's Service agencies from <br />$656,726 during the current fiscal year to $623,890 for <br />fiscal year 2012-2013, and for staff to make notification to <br />all involved that there may be up to a 5% cut. <br />12.H. RECREATION NONE <br />12.1. PUBLIC WORKS <br />12.1.1. SECTOR 3 BEACH RESTORATION PROJECT UPDATE <br />County Coastal Engineer James Gray, using a PowerPoint presentation (on file), provided <br />the Board with an update on Phase 2b of the Sector 3 Beach Restoration Project. He conveyed <br />that as of March 16, 2012, Ranger Construction Industries, Inc. (Ranger) had placed <br />approximately 100,000 cubic yards (cy) of the required 111,000 cy of sand that was needed to <br />fill the full Phase 2b design template. Due to the lack of available beach sand, Ranger proposed <br />eliminating the dune portion of the profile and just constructing the lower portion of the berm <br />March 20, 2012 15 <br />BK 142 PG 24: <br />
