INSTALLATION OF SIX NEW WELLS AND <br /> PREPARE REMEDIAL ACTION PLAN FOR THE FORMER SOUTH GIFFORD ROAD <br /> LANDFILL <br /> MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Flescher, <br /> SECONDED by Commissioner Davis , for discussion , to <br /> approve staff' s recommendation . <br /> Director Mehta introduced Principal Engineers Jim Langenbach and Nandra Weeks of <br /> Geosyntec Consultants , Inc . ( Geosyntec) . <br /> Jim Langenbach , P .E . , Geosyntec , 6770 South Washington Ave . , Titusville, through a <br /> PowerPoint presentation (copy on file) , provided background history and a comprehensive <br /> overview of past and ongoing remediation activities related to groundwater contamination found <br /> at the former Gifford Road Landfill . He conveyed that remediation measures , such as <br /> monitoring wells and emulsified oil bio barriers , have resulted in a decrease in concentration of <br /> the contaminant found in the groundwater plume . IIe divulged that in accordance with the <br /> Florida Department of Environmental Protection ' s (FDEP ) request , Geosyntec would be putting <br /> additional monitoring wells in the southeast corner of the landfill , as well as performing <br /> additional bio remediation in the former source area . Concluding his presentation , Mr . <br /> Langenbach outlined the long - term strategies for moving toward the ultimate goal of site cleanup <br /> and closure . <br /> Nandra Weeks , P .E . , Geosyntec Consultant Engineer 47 Barcelona Avenue ; <br /> Jacksonville , explained that now that the contaminants at the old Gifford Road Landfill are being <br /> remediated , it would be desirable to explore redeveloping the site into a beneficial and <br /> May 17 , 2011 3 <br /> S .
