3 . 02 BENDING <br /> A . General <br /> 1 . Fabricate all reinforcement in strict accordance with the approved Shop <br /> Drawings and ASTM A- 615 , <br /> 2 . Do not use bars with kinks or bends not shown on the Drawings or on the <br /> approved Shop Drawings. <br /> 3 . Do not bend or straighten steel in a manner that will injure the material . <br /> 3 : 03 PLACING <br /> A . General <br /> 1 . Before the start of concrete placement, accurately place all concrete <br /> reinforcement, positively securing and supporting by means of approved <br /> metal chairs, spacers, and metal hangers . <br /> B . Clearance <br /> 1 . Preserve clear space between bars of not less than one and one-half ( 1 - 1 /2) <br /> times the nominal diameter of round bars . <br /> 2 . Provide minimum concrete covering of reinforcement as shown or noted on <br /> the Drawings . <br /> 3 . 04 CLEANING REINFORCEMENT <br /> A. Steel reinforcement, at the time concrete is placed around it, shall be free from rust <br /> scale loose mill scale, oil paint, and all other coatings which will destroy or reduce <br /> the bond between steel and concrete . <br /> PART 4 - ITEM OF PAYMENT <br /> No separate Payment shall be made for work specified in this Section .
