adjacent area has been graded, it shall be made ready, when directed by the Engineer, and <br /> sodded in accordance with Section 02204 of these specifications . Sodding shall be <br /> incorporated into the project at the earliest practical time in the life of the contract. <br /> ' 3 . 02 SPRIGGING <br /> ' Install Hybrid 419 Bermuda grass sprigs at 800- 900 bushels per acre . Water immediately <br /> after planting and keep soil moist for 3 to 5 weeks . One week after planting, apply 250 <br /> pounds ammonium nitrate per acre, once for the first 3 weeks . Apply when grass blades are <br /> ' dry . Follow by watering to prevent burning. Apply 1 /4 lb . 24D per acre to control broadleaf <br /> weed as labeled until weeks are gone . Begin mowing turf at 1 " height 3 to 4 weeks after <br /> planting . Second application to be 500 pounds per acre application of 10-20-30 fertilizer. <br /> ' Repeat ammonium nitrate applications as necessary until grow-in is complete . <br /> A. Watering : <br /> ' Newly-sprigged areas are to be watered by Contractor as necessary to keep sprigs <br /> alive . Dead sprigs shall be replaced by Contractor prior to closeout. <br /> ' Be Rolling: <br /> Immediately after completion of the sprigging, the entire grassed area shall be rolled <br /> thoroughly with the equipment specified. At least two trips over the entire area will <br /> be required. <br /> ' C . Operations on Steep Slopes : <br /> Do not place sprigs on steep sloped areas . Utilize frill sodding methods to control <br /> erosion. <br /> 3 . 03 TURF CARE PROGRAM <br /> It shall be Contractor ' s responsibility to provide a turf care program for a 6-month period <br /> commencing on the date of final project acceptance . This turf care program shall include <br /> aerifying, insect control , weed control, disease control, rye grass over seeding and spot <br /> sprigging operations as necessary to maintain each field in healthy condition. Application <br /> rates of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, nematicides , soil fumigants , etc . , shall be in <br /> accordance with manufacturer ' s recommendations . Fertilization shall be performed by the <br /> Owner in accordance with Contractor ' s and fertilizer manufacturer' s recommendations . <br /> Fertilizer shall be 10-20-30 . Contractor shall make, at a minimum, one visit per month to <br /> the fields to inspect and perform any operations necessary to maintain the fields in healthy <br /> condition. All mowing operations shall be performed by the Owner at substantial completion <br /> of the project. A one-year Performance and Payment Bond is required for the entire <br /> prod ect. <br /> ' A. Turf Care Chemicals : <br /> Acceptable herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and nematicides are as follows : <br /> 1 . Herbicides : Trimer plus, Pennant, Sencor <br /> 2 , Insecticides : Nemacr, Mocad, Triumph, Orthene, OL , of Ofthanol <br /> 3 . Fungicides : Daconil <br /> 4 , Nematicide : Daconil 02208-2 <br />
