- D . GLASS BEADS <br /> 1 . The stripe along the edge of the road <br /> p g g s shall have durable reflective <br /> glass spheres applied at the rate of six pounds per gallon of paint while <br /> ' the paint is still tacky enough for them to adhere at that rate . <br /> E . APPLICATION OF PAINT <br /> 1 . The paint stripes shall be a uniform 4 inches in width and be applied at the <br /> wet film rate of 15 Mils, exclusive of the glass spheres . The road edge <br /> ' stripe shall be applied with the outside edge of the stripe at a uniform <br /> 4 - 6 inches from the edge of the finished pavement. Prior to applying <br /> the paint the location of parking spaces, centerline and edge stripe shall <br /> be adequately marked with chalk, tacks or other suitable means . The <br /> equipment used to apply the paint shall be capable of uniformly <br /> applying the paint at the specified thickness without thinning and with <br /> well defined edges . The surface must be dry when the paint is applied . <br /> ' 2 . Paint spills , alignment errors, application defects, etc . shall be removed by <br /> sand blasting or any other means which will remove the paint <br /> without harming the pavement. <br /> t3 . No paint shall be applied to the asphalt until three weeks after the <br /> asphalt has been laid down unless otherwise approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> ' 4 . TEMPORARY TRAFFIC STRIPPING AND MARKING <br /> ' A . When required by the Engineer or other agencies, temporary traffic striping and <br /> marking shall be applied as soon as practical after the asphalt has been laid . <br /> ' B . Until the temporary traffic striping and marking is applied, the Contractor <br /> shall maintain safety along the road improvements using warning signs , traffic <br /> cones, emergency lights and other equipment as necessary, in accordance with the <br /> Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices , latest edition. <br /> ' C : \ Down1oad \ techspec - 02311 . doc 02311 - 2 <br />
