Shelton, each in the <br />sum of $500.00 with the.American Fire and Casualty Company as surety, were approved by Douglas <br />Baker. Clerk, as provided by law. <br />Jack McCown, County Agent, appeared before the Board and announced that the <br />State Fair in Tampa is to be held February 5th to 19th, inclusive, and February 18th, is <br />County Commissioners day. He urged all members of the Board to attend if possible. <br />Sam Joyce, Sheriff, appeared before the Board and requested an additional <br />phone in the sheriff's office. Said request was granted upon motion of Commissioner Waddelle <br />seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and carried. <br />It was leafed that the United States is about ready to release the South 6 <br />acres of land referred to as atomic station on the beach, and Sherman N. Martin, Trustee of the F.E.C. Railroad <br />requesting and urging the County to construct fences and barriers between the railroad right- <br />of-way and the widening of U. S. al in the vicinity of Vero Beach as previously agreed upon. <br />Commissioners Warren and Waddell, together with S. N. Smith, Jr., Attorney and E. E. Carter, <br />Road and Bridge Superintendent were appointed a committee on this project. <br />E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, was requested to prepare notice <br />Inviting bids on materials required in connection with this project and to also write all <br />supply.:houses sending them a copy of said notice. <br />Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to deposit $500.00 in the Road and Bridge <br />Fund, said money having been received and held in escrow regarding a borrow pit of Herschel <br />Auxier's, <br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case.Worker appeared before the Board and <br />made a report of her activities for the month of December, and said report was filed with the <br />Clerk. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Warren* seconded by Commissioner Waddell, and <br />carried, Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to deposit excess fees in county funds, as <br />follows: <br />$1.000.00 in the Road and Bridge Fund <br />u3,000.A0 in the General Revenue Fund <br />Remainder in the Capital Outlay Fund. <br />E. E. Carter advised the Board he had contacted one of the property owners <br />owning property North of the Courthouse and would also contact the others in order to try <br />and determine whether or not the land was for sale and if so. at what price:. <br />Pursuant to letters dated December 4, 1954, inviting bids'on concrete re - <br />enforcing steel, returnable up to 10:00 o'clock January 4. 1955, the following bids were <br />received: Florida <br />Steel Products <br />Company, <br />Orlando.
