E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, stated that at this time of the <br />1', <br />year he would like to advertise for certain materials needed by the Road and Bridge Department ' <br />for the first six months <br />in 1957. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by <br />Fi <br />Commissioner Waddell and <br />carried, the Board authorized Mr. Carter <br />to make up a list of materials <br />needed and give to ShermanN. Smith, Jr. Attorney, so that he could <br />prepare the advertisement <br />for the newspaper. <br />Mrs. Anne <br />Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker, <br />appeared before the Board <br />and made a report of her <br />work for the month of November, same was <br />ordered filed by the Clerk. <br />The Board requested Attorney, Sherman N. Smith, Jr. to get the title to the <br />land on which the Old Folk's Home will be built. <br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr. and E. E. Carter were appointed as a committee to revamp <br />the office for Judge Kanner. <br />Joe Michael appeared before the Board and stated they were having a special <br />meeting of the Tax Council for this area and requested that the members of the Board of County <br />Commissioners meet with them in the Commissioners Room on Friday night at 7:30 P. M., December <br />7th. The Commissioners agreed that they would meet with the tax council on that date. <br />Commissioner Waddell stated that he had been contacted by several people that <br />someone had been hauling dirt from the Gifford cemetery. The Board requested Commissioners <br />Waddell and McCullers to notify the Sheriff to be on the lookout for anyone removing dirt <br />from this area and arrest them. <br />Upon Motion of Commissioner Hamilton sedonded b Commissioner Watts and carried <br />P � Y <br />the following letters of agreement were authorized relating to obtaining right of way deeds <br />on State ]koad 5 or U. S. #1 in the Sebastian - Wabasso area: <br />May 7, 1956 <br />Mrs. A. R. Miller <br />Wabasso, Florida <br />In re: SRD No. 74 <br />Dear Mrs. Miller: <br />In consideration of the execution by you and all of the children, <br />Indian River County, acting by and through its Board of County Commissioners, <br />agrees with you as follows: <br />J <br />1. That the County will pay to you the sum of $500.00 for this <br />right of way. <br />2. That the County will cut off the artesian well beneath the <br />ground and bring it to the surface off the right of way. <br />3. That the County will move your house back from the right of <br />way set it up and re-establish it in as good condition as it was prior to <br />moving. <br />This agreement is made pursuant to approval of the same by the Board <br />of County Commissioners as shown by its minutes. <br />Sincerely yours, <br />Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida <br />By s/ W.
