9 <br />at their next regular meeting. <br />Mr. Humphries of Wabasso appeared before the Board with reference to an outfall!; <br />ditch to be put in on his land for the new U. S. #1 Highway. He was advised by the Board <br />that any changes in this ditch would have to be made by the State Road Department. Sherman <br />advised him that he would take it up with the State Road Department. <br />Mrs. Anne Christensen, County Welfare Case Worker, appeared before the Board <br />and made a report of her activities for the month of February, and same was ordered filed by <br />the Clerk. <br />'p <br />Mrs. Christensen reported that Mrs. Jeffries was in need of nursing home care. <br />Upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and carried, <br />the Board authorized $35.00 per month toward her care in a nursing home. <br />A proposed typical section was submitted by the State Road Department for State <br />Road #8858-151 - Glendale Road from State Road 505A to State Road 5, budgeted amount $1000,000. <br />for approval. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner Mc - <br />Cullers and unanimously carried, said typical section was approved. <br />A proposed typical section submitted by the State Road Department for 16th <br />Street in the City of Vero Beach from State Road 505 to State Road #5 estimated budgeted <br />amount $57,400.00 for approval. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by <br />Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, said typical section was approved. <br />The County Attorney read a letter to the Board from L. B. Vocelle requesting <br />permission to Repeal the Legislative Act vesting the Board of County Commissioners with the <br />power to regulate the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages in Indian River County. After <br />considerable discus sion in the matter and upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded <br />by Commissioner McCullers and carried, the Board of County Commissioners requested the <br />Attorney to advise L. B. Vocelle, Representative from Indian River County that it is the con- <br />sidered judgment and opinion of the Board that Chapter 29196, Laws of Florida, 1953, granting <br />the Board of County Commissioners the power to regulate the sale of alcoholic beverages <br />throughout Indian River County, should not be repealed, but to the contrary this power should <br />be vested in the Commissioners. <br />E. E. Carter, Superintendent of Roads, requested the Commissioners ask that <br />a special act be passed in the Legislature, whereby the County would pay the full amount of <br />Blue -Cross - Blue Shield Insurance instead of part as they are now doing. Upon Motion made by; <br />Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, the <br />County Attorney was requested to submit a bill to Legislator L. B. Vocelle to be passed in <br />this Legislature whereby the County would pay the full amount of Blue Cross - Blue Shield <br />Premiums for all County Employees. <br />It was brought out that since the resignation of Col. A. V. Lill as Director <br />of Civil Defense in Indian River County that no one had been selected to replace him. <br />Commissioners McCullers and Robert Graves were appointed as a committee to find someone to <br />replace Col.
