<br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney stated to the Board that the Indian River Farms
<br />Drainage District owned Tract 3 (approximately 30 acres) in Section 34, Township 33 South,
<br />l Range 38 East, and in order to provide an area for fill for public use within said Bistrict,
<br />were willing and authorized to execute and deliver a deed of conveyance of an undivided one-
<br />half interest in and to the said land, without consideration, other than the fact that said
<br />lands shall be jointly held by said County and Drainage District for the purposes recited
<br />above.
<br />It was then moved by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner W. C.
<br />Graves, Jr. and carried, that the County accept the deed and that Douglas Baker, Clerk be
<br />authorized to record same.
<br />There being no further business, on Motion made, seconded and carried, the Board
<br />then adjourned.

<br />TUESDAY, MAY -7, 1957
<br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the
<br />Courthouse in Vero Beach, Florida, in a regular meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M., May 7, 1957.
<br />Present were J. J. P. Hamilton, Chairman, D. B. McCullers, W. C. Graves, Jr., Robert W. Graves
<br />and Donald Macdonald. Also present were E. E. Carter, Superintendent of Roads, Sherman N.
<br />Smith, Jr., Attorney, Sam T. Joyce, Sheriff, Douglas Baker, Clerk and Katherine Morrison,
<br />Secretary.
<br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made to the minutes.
<br />There being none and upon motion made by Commissioner Robert W. Graves, seconded by W. C.
<br />Graves, Jr. and unanimously carried, minutes of April 2nd regular meeting, and April 23rd
<br />special meeting were approved as read.
<br />Judge Otis M. Cobb, County Judge appeared before the meeting and stated that he had
<br />about used the appropriation from the budget for his criminal fees and asked the Board to
<br />ai
<br />transfer $1500.00 into this item. After some discussion in the matter and upon Motion made by
<br />Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr. and unanimously carried,
<br />the Board approved this transfer.

<br />Judge Cobb together with Coach Thompson appeared before the Board stating that the
<br />V, is having a lot of trouble with Juvenile Delinquency. They stated that the County was in
<br />need of a full time Truant Officer and Juvenile Counselor and to get a good and qualified man
<br />for the job he would have to be paid an adequate salary. After Discussion in the matter a
<br />committee consisting of Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr. and Attorney Sherman N. Smith, Jr. was
<br />appointed to work with the school board in determining what salary should be paid and other
<br />1 details.
