Appenduc A, Fire Headiness Plan, May 2004 <br /> FIRE READINESS LEVEL 2: - <br /> A. Mandatory Activities <br /> 1 . Towers — Staff all key towers. The staffing of secondary towers is .a local <br /> decision based on recent fire occurrence and values-at-risk. <br /> 2. Rangers -Perform routine duties and be on fire call. <br /> 3 . Area Supervisors -Perform routine duties and be ready for dispatch. <br /> 4.. Burning Authorizations - Advise caution in high hazard areas. <br /> 5: : Air Patrol - ,Optional, local decision: based on fire occurrence, burning <br /> authorizations, values-at-risk, and local fire danger ratings. <br /> 6. On-Call — Maximum of one initial attack .unit for area unless local .fire <br /> situation requires more. <br /> B. Permissible Activities — Regular Duties <br /> FRE READINESS LEVEL 3 : <br /> A. Mandatory Activities <br /> 1 • Area personnel <br /> a. Towers — Staff all key towers. Staff all secondary towers between <br /> 1200. and 1600 hours. <br /> b. Rangers — Be ready for dispatch. Perform only those duties that will <br /> allow rapid-fire dispatch. Unless fire occurrence is low, maintain all <br /> scheduled crews on duty or on call on Sundays and Holidays.. <br /> c. Area Supervisors — While on "dutyperform only those duties that will <br /> allow 5 minutes fire dispatch. Check equipment in early A.M. <br /> Emphasize safety. <br /> d. Burning Authorizations - Request landowners to delay burning <br /> authorization requests until fire danger subsides. Restrict <br /> authorizations to those, which the person responsible will offer <br /> assurance . of adequate control. Conduct on-site inspection when <br /> circumstances and time will allow. <br /> e. Air Patrol - Afternoon patrol of district. The District/Center <br /> Manager may exempt requirement if local conditions warrant. <br /> f. On-Call - Maximum of two initial attack units per area unless local <br /> fire situation requires more: <br /> 2. District personnel — During momng hours, OIC either in district office or <br /> close by and in immediate contact. During the afternoon, the OIC will be in <br /> the district office unless fire occurrence is low. The District/Center Manager <br /> or the Operations Administrator may be in the office in lieu of the. OIC . <br /> When occurrence low, handle afternoon duty as per morning duty`. Weekends <br /> and holidays handled same as weekdays. <br />
