V <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 1955: <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, met at the Courthouse, <br />Vero Beach, Florida in a ragular meeting held at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, February 4, 1957. <br />All members were present. Also present were Ed Schmucker, Road & Bridge Superintendent, Sher- <br />man N. Smith, Jr., Attorney and Katherine Morrison, Secretary. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made to the minutes <br />of January 7th regular meeting, and January 21st, special meeting. There being none and upon <br />Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner McCullers, the minutes <br />o <br />of these two meetings were approved as read. ;f <br />Mr. Bill Payne of the Rod and Gun Club appeared before the Board and stated that the <br />k <br />Rod & Gun Club would like to improve the facilities at Blue Cypress Lake, such as building <br />I <br />barbeque pits, putting in docking facilities, a well for water and other facilities. Upon ,u <br />Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and carried, <br />the Board appointed a committee consisting of Commissioners McCullers and Robert Graves to get <br />together with members of the Rod & Gun Club and find out just what they had in mind and then <br />V <br />'6 <br />make their recommendations at the next regular meeting. <br />r° <br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr. stated at this point that the Flood Control District had not <br />9w <br />given this county jurisdiction over the waters of .Blue Cypress but only that portion which we c <br />now own. Upon Motion made by Commissioner W. C. Graves, Jr., seconded by Commissioner <br />Hamilton and unanimously carried, the Board requested the County Attorney to contact Mr. Brian ,I <br />McCarty of the Central & Southern Florida Flood Control Board and see if we could get this <br />matter straightened out. <br />Mr. Al Lefaver appeared before the Board and stated he was putting in a Grocery <br />store off of the North Gifford Road but in that area was a law restricting the sale of al- <br />coholic beverages and wanted to know whether or not he would be allowed to sell beer and wine <br />to go out.
