71 <br />� <br />1 <br />• <br />C <br />• <br />1 <br />1 <br />s <br />�1 <br />295 <br />(a.4) Base Width: <br />All bases shall be one foot wider than the final pavement width with the. <br />exception of a marl base which is to be two foot wider than the final pavement width. <br />(a.5) Pavement width: <br />The minimum pavement width shall be 18;feet. Split pavements for a boulevard <br />type street shall have a minimum width of 11 feet. Pavements with curbs shall have a minimum <br />width of 20 feet. <br />(a.6) In instances where the property owners of an existing recorded subdivision <br />wish to pave their streets, it shall be at their own expense and no funds are to be contri- <br />buted by the County. However, in instances where there are more than two streets involved, <br />the County Engineer will take off the actual centerline distance of the streets, and propor- <br />tion an equivalent footage for each property owner. This is to eliminate the discrimination <br />which would be placed on a corner lot owner, and more equally distribute the costs. The -- <br />property owners shall contact for bids for the paving and the work shall completely comply <br />with all county regulations as to drainage and paving specifications. Where culverts must <br />be placed under cross streets, the County will furnish them. <br />b. Types of Pavement <br />(b.l) A six inch thick compacted sub -grade, a six inch thick lime rock compacted <br />base, a seal coat, and a sand seal wearing surface. <br />(b.2) A six inch thick compacted sub -grade, a six inch thick compacted soil cement <br />base, a seal coat, and a sand seal wearing surface. <br />(b.3) A six inch thick compacted sub -grade, a six inch thick compacted mixed in <br />place base, a seal coat, and a sand seal wearing surface. <br />(b.4) A six inch thick compacted sub -grade, a six inch thick compacted marl base, <br />a seal coat, and a one and one-half inch thick asphaltic concrete wearing surface. This type <br />of pavement is limited to areas of satisfactory drainage and land elevation. Specific approv <br />for the area must be obtained. <br />(b.5) A road way which may be a partial combination of two of the above mentioned <br />pavements, however, only upon specific approval. <br />(b.6) The pavements stipulated in Articles &.1, s..2 and a.3 may have an alternate <br />wearing surface of one inch asphaltic concrete or a double surface treatment. <br />c. Sub -Grade <br />(c.l) The road bed shall be excavated and shaped in conformity with a typical sect <br />shown on the plan and to the lines and grade established by the engineer. All unstable or <br />otherwise objectionable material shall be removed from the sub -grade and replaced with approvec <br />material. All holes, ruts and depressions shall be filled with approved material, and, if <br />required, the sub -grade shall be thoroughly wetted with water and reshaped and rolled to the <br />extent directed in order to place the sub -grade in an acceptable condition to receive the <br />base material. The surface of the sub -grade shall be finished to line and grade as establishec <br />and be in conformity with the typical section shown on plans. The stability of the sub -grade <br />shall be such as to support construction and equipment without rutting, and/or shall be com- <br />
