1 <br />1 <br />40 <br />�J <br />1 <br />1 <br />41 <br />X21 <br />I, for purchase for recreation purposes as provided by the Recreation Act of the Congress of the <br />United States of America; Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED b the Board of Count Commissioners of Indian River Count Y Y Y> Florida, <br />�a <br />acting for and upon behalf of Indian River County, a political subdivision of the State of <br />Florida, that Sherman N. Smith, Jr., its attorney, is herewith authorized and directed to <br />make application to said Bureau of Land Management for purchase by Indian River County of <br />said above described lands in the form required by said Bureau, including payment of the <br />filing fee and attaching a statement to the effect that the proposed use of the lands by said <br />County is as follows: <br />1BThe proposed use of this land is to first selectively clear and <br />grade the same, mark out, designate and establish parking areas <br />and shell.or marl surface the same to hold motor vehicles and then <br />to intersperse the area with picnic grounds, picnic tables and <br />other facilities in order that the area may be used as a public <br />park and bathing area. It is not planned that any revenues be <br />realized from the County's operation of this project and all of <br />the land and facilities will be available without charge. The <br />primary benefit to the general public will be to provide a facility <br />from which the Atlantic Ocean will be accessible for public bathing <br />as well as the public park area on the land itself." <br />which said proposed use this Board does herewith declare that it intends in good faith to <br />and has the lawful authority and means to develop, hold and use said lands as stated; and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said attorney is herewith authorized and directed to <br />do any and all other things necessary in order to consummate the purchase of the above de- <br />scribed lands. <br />It was noted that a piece of land was being offered for sale by the County in the <br />Wabasso area. Upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner W. <br />C. Graves, Jr., and unanimously carried, the Clerk was authorized to withdraw this piece of <br />from sale. <br />Mr. Schmucker said he had look at the hole on the jail property and thought by <br />putting up a strand of barbed wire around the lake and placing several no trespassing signs, <br />this should take came of the situation. <br />JOHN T.
