11 <br />J <br />1 <br />• <br />1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />R E S 0 L U T I 0 N -- Recess Equalization <br />WHEREAS, due notice by publication thereof has been given that the County Assessor <br />of Taxes of Indian River County, Florida, will meet with the Board of County Commissioners <br />on the 5th day of August, 1958 and at the said time present the Tax Assessment Roll of said <br />County for the year 1958 for equalization, as will appear by proof of publication of such <br />notice recorded in the Minutes of this meeting; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Assessor of Taxes did meet with said Board at the time and place <br />stated in said Notice and said Board did convene as a Board of Equalization for the purpose <br />of examining said Roll; and <br />WHEREAS, the said County Assessor of Taxes did advise this Board that due to the <br />numerous additions and increases to the Tax Assessment Roll, all of the same had not been <br />completed, NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />that this Equalization Meeting will continue in session for that purpose and that this Equal- <br />ization Meeting is herewith recessed to reconvene -at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A. M. on the <br />15th day of August, 1958. <br />John Gould, attorney, appeared before the Board and presented a petition to vacate <br />and abandon all county roads in the Town of Indian River Shores. After some discussion in <br />the matter and upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner Mc - <br />Cullers and ;,unanimously carried, the Board decided to table the Petition until our Attorney, <br />Sherman N. Smith, Jr. returned from vacation. <br />Rev. Owen of Wabasso appeared before the Board and presented a petition containing <br />names of 34 freeholders from the Wabasso area requesting that U. S. #1 be continued and <br />4-laned along its present route and not be changed. The Petition was tabled until later in <br />the meeting. <br />Joe Henry Earman appeared before the Board as the Director of Civil Defense and <br />stated that he had worked out a disaster plan for the County and gave a copy to each member <br />of the Board. He further stated he would like a resolution passed giving ebrtain persons <br />authority to evacuate any and all persons, if necessary, by force during any emergency. Upon <br />Motion by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Robert Graves and unanimously <br />carried, the Board approved in principle the request made by Mr. Earman and referred the <br />matter to the County Attorney for preparation of the necessary resolutions. <br />// <br />R�. <br />
