Hospital Service for Indigent 500.00 <br />i <br />TOTAL $500.00 $500.00 <br />---t-------------------------------------------------- <br />Mr. Paul Goodridge representing the Indian River Memorial Hospital appeared before <br />the Board and presented a petition to levy an annual tax for the maintenance of a county <br />hospital and also to levy a tax for the issuance of bonds for building additions to the hospital. <br />Upon Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and carrie do <br />i^ <br />the Hospital petition was accepted and ordered placed on the November ballot, and the follow- <br />ing Resolution was adopted: <br />R E S O L U T I O N -- Hospital Bond Election <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, <br />that this Board does herewith find and determine that this Board has been presented with a <br />petition signed by more than five per cent of the resident freeholders of Indian.River County,,;i` <br />Florida, asking that an annual tax may be levied for the establishment and maintenance of a <br />public hospital located at Vero Beach, Florida, and which said petition did dpecify the sum, <br />of $750,000.00 as the maximum amount of money propsoed to be expended in purchasing or ? <br />building said hospital; and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board does herewith determine that it shall submit <br />the question as to whether or not bonds in an amount not to exceed $750,000.00 shall be issued"° <br />by the County to provide funds for the purchase and the erection of a public hospital and <br />for the support of the same, which bonds shall be payable within thirty (30) years and whether;' <br />4 <br />or not a tax in an amount not to exceed five mills shall be levied upon the assessed property <br />of Indian River County, Florida, for the support of a public hospital, which said rjuestion <br />shall be submitted to the qualified electors of Indian River County, Florida, who are free- <br />holders at the next general election to be held in this County, to -wit: On November 4, 1953? <br />and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of such election shall be given at leaat thirty <br />(30) days prior to the date of said election in the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper <br />of general circulation published in this County, which notice shall include the text of said <br />petition and state the amour of the tax to be levied upon the assessed property of this <br />County, which tax shall not exceed five mills on the dollar; and i <br />i <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said election shall be held at the usual places in this <br />County for voting upon County officers and shall be canvassed in the same manner as the <br />a <br />vote for County officers is canvassed; and, <br />s <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ballots to be used in said election at which such <br />hospital question is submitted shall be printed with a statement substantially as follows: <br />For the issuance of not to exceed $750,000.00 of the County bonds anf for not to exceed <br />five mill tax for a public hospital and for maintenance of the same. � <br />f <br />U <br />1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />1 <br />• <br />1 <br />1 <br />0 <br />
