M. Tuesday, December 2, 1955. <br />present were Donald Macdonald, D. B. McCullers, Jr., Robert W. Graves and J. J. P. Hamilton. <br />Absent was W. C. Graves, Jr. Also present were Ed Schmucker, County Engineer, Sherman N. Smith <br />Jr., Attorney and Katherine Morrison, Deputy Clerk. <br />The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made to the minutes <br />of November 4th and November 5th. There were none, and upon Motion made by Commissioner <br />Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, the minutes were <br />approved as read. <br />The County Attorney read an appraisal from Mr. Jewett on the Hewitt property which <br />had been offered to the County for $20,000.00. The Jewett Appraisal Company appraised these <br />two lots at $12,000.00. After some discussion in the matter the Board asked Mr. Norman if he <br />would accept $15,000.00, and he said no that they had the property up for sale at $25,000.00 <br />and they had already come down $5,000.00 and would not sell for less than the $20,000.00. The <br />Board decided that they were unable to purchase the Hewitt property for $20,000.00. <br />The Chairman asked the County Engineer if he had estimated the cost of putting a <br />parking lot in Lang -,wick S/D as requested at the meeting of November 4th. Mr. Schmucker sta ted <br />he had estimated that it would cost the County around $1300.00. After some discussion and <br />,,upon Motion by Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and carried, the Board decided <br />Ito table this matter until a further study could be made as to the need for a public parking <br />! <br />lot in this area. <br />Mr. Schmucker stated he had been contacted by Mr. Denny R. Hendry, representing <br />;the Roseland Gardens Community Church, and stated that he had received a tax bill for some <br />land which he had sold to the church and asked if the Board would adjust this bill. Upon <br />s� <br />'Motion made by Commissioner Robert Graves, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously <br />Ncarried, the Board agreed to pay the amount of the tax bill (which is $54.31) for the additio <br />R+right of way that the county needs for Roseland Road. <br />• Homer Fletcher, Tax Assessor appeared before the Board and requested permission to <br />N <br />kuadjust the valuation and extended tax on the following described property on the 1955 tax roll <br />Fd <br />1 and for the following reasons <br />I� <br />- <br />Z/ <br />S" <br />
