required pipe lining , coating , encasement material , restraining devices , and
<br /> thrust blocks shall be included in the cost of the pipe .
<br /> C . Fittings : Measurement of cast iron and ductile iron fittings shall be on the
<br /> basis of weight. The weights used to determine the quantity installed shall be
<br /> the weights of the appropriate fittings as listed in the supplier' s invoice or
<br /> catalog . When mechanical joint fittings are required , the weight of the gland
<br /> bolts and gaskets shall not be added to the listed weight of the fittings .
<br /> Where flanged fittings are furnished , the weight of the bolts and gaskets shall
<br /> not be included .
<br /> D . Gate Valves and Tapping Valves : Measurement shall be on the basis of
<br /> furnishing and installing each type and size of valve (and tapping sleeve , if
<br /> applicable ) required , including the valve box, cover, and other associated
<br /> items .
<br /> E . Fire Hydrant Assembly: Measurement of fire hydrant assembly shall be for
<br /> the actual number constructed in accordance with the Plans and
<br /> Specifications , or as directed by the Engineer, at the unit price bid for the item
<br /> " Fire Hydrant Assembly , " scheduled in the Form of Proposal . The unit price
<br /> for " Fire Hydrant Assembly" shall include cutting bituminous paving , removal
<br /> of paving courses and curb if required , excavation , furnishing and Installation
<br /> of 10 ' (6" ) D . I . P . water main , dry-barrel traffic hydrant, concrete foundations
<br /> for hydrant, fitting , one ( 1 ) 6" diameter gate valve , concrete thrust block
<br /> ( reaction backing ) for fire hydrant , backfill , blue reflective markers , all
<br /> materials , equipment , labor and all else necessary therefore and incidental
<br /> thereto .
<br /> F . Water Service : Measurement of water service lateral shall include furnishing
<br /> and construction of piping and appurtenances to carry and distribute water
<br /> from the water main to the edge of the Right-of-Way for future service to
<br /> individual property owners . The work shall include , but shall not be limited to ,
<br /> cutting of existing pavement where required , jack and bore of existing
<br /> pavement where required , excavation , installation (of pipe , meter boxes ,
<br /> connections and associated appurtenances ) , backfilling , testing , disinfection ,
<br /> and all restoration in kind . The services shall be of a type and size specified ,
<br /> and shall be constructed in accordance with these Plans and Specification , or
<br /> as directed by the Engineer.
<br /> G . HDPE Horizontal Directional Bore : Measurement of HDPE horizontal
<br /> directional bore shall include all material ( including HDPE pipe) , equipment ,
<br /> supplies , fuel , labor, sheeting and bracing , jacking and boring pits ( if
<br /> required ) , excavation , dewatering , backfilling , compaction , mechanical
<br /> fittings , restoration , furnishing and installing HDPE pipe . Payments shall be
<br /> based on the lengths specified in the Schedule of Bid Items . Directional bore
<br /> lengths specified in the Schedule of Bid Items are estimated quantities .
<br /> Contractor will be compensated for directional bores on a proportionate linear
<br /> foot basis (e . g . an 80 foot long bore estimated at 70 feet in the schedule of
<br /> bid items will be compensated at the ratio of 8/7 times the unit price .
<br /> Likewise a 60 foot long bore estimated at 70 feet in the schedule of bid items
<br /> will be compensated at the ratio of 6/7 times the unit price ) . Indian River
