1 . 6 DAMAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURES AND UTILITIES <br /> A. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for and make good all damage to <br /> pavement beyond the limits of this Contract, buildings , telephone or other cables , <br /> water pipes , sanitary pipes , or other structures which may e encountered , whether <br /> or not shown on the Drawings . <br /> B . Information shown on the Drawings as to the location of existing utilities has been <br /> prepared from the most reliable data available to the Engineer. This information is <br /> not guaranteed , however, and it shall be this CONTRACTOR's responsibility to <br /> determine the location , character and depth of any existing utilities . He shall assist <br /> the utility companies , by every means possible to determine said locations . <br /> Extreme caution shall be exercised to eliminate any possibility of any damage to <br /> utilities resulting from his activities . <br /> 1 . 7 ADJUSTMENTS OF UTILITY CASTINGS , COVERS AND BOXES <br /> A. All existing utility castings, including valve boxes , junction boxes , manholes, pull <br /> boxes , inlets and similar structures in the areas of construction that are to remain <br /> in service shall be adjusted by the CONTRACTOR to bring them flush with the <br /> surface of the finished work. <br /> B . The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate the utilities to ensure proper construction <br /> sequencing . CONTRACTOR shall make available survey reference markers to <br /> the various utility companies . <br /> SECTION 01550 ACCESS ROADS, PARKING AREAS, AND <br /> USE OF PUBLIC STREETS <br /> 1 . 1 GENERAL <br /> A. Provide all temporary construction roads , walks and parking areas required during <br /> construction and for use of emergency vehicles . Design and maintain temporary <br /> roads and parking areas so they are fully usable in all weather conditions. <br /> B . Prevent interference with traffic and the OWNER's operations on existing roads . <br /> Indemnify and save harmless the OWNER from any expenses caused by <br /> CONTRACTOR's operations over these roads. <br /> C . Roadways damaged by CONTRACTOR shall be restored to their original condition <br /> by the CONTRACTOR subject to approval of the OWNER or ENGINEER . <br /> D . Remove temporary roads , walks and parking areas prior to final acceptance and <br /> return the ground to its original condition , unless otherwise required by the <br /> Contract Documents. <br /> 1 . 2 USE OF PUBLIC STREETS <br /> The use of public streets and alleys shall be such as to provide a minimum of <br /> inconvenience to the public and to other traffic .
