' A . Subsurface Information : Test borings and other exploratory operations may <br /> be made by the CONTRACTOR , at no cost to the OWNER , to obtain <br /> ' subsurface information . All borings/test holes shall be completely filled with <br /> clean sand upon completion of testing . <br /> B . Existing Structures : The Drawings show certain surface and underground <br /> utilities adjacent to the Work . This information has been obtained from <br /> existing records provided by others . It is not guaranteed to be correct or <br /> I complete and is shown only for the convenience of CONTRACTOR . <br /> Explore ahead of the required excavation to determine the exact location of <br /> all structures . Support and protect all structures from damage . If they are <br /> broken or damaged , restored them immediately at no additional expense . <br /> C . Existing Utilities : Locate existing underground utilities in the areas of Work . <br /> If utilities are to remain in place , . provide adequate means of protection <br /> during all operations . <br /> 1 . If uncharted or incorrectly charted piping or other utilities are <br /> ' encountered during excavation , consult ENGINEER immediately for <br /> directions as to procedure . Cooperate with OWNER and utility <br /> companies in keeping respective services and facilities in operation . <br /> Repair damaged utilities to satisfaction of utility owner. <br /> 2 . In general , service lines to individual houses and businesses are not <br /> shown ; however, assume that a service exists for each utility to each <br /> house or business . <br /> 3 . Do not interrupt utilities serving existing facilities except when permitted <br /> in writing by the owner of the facility and the ENGINEER and then only <br /> ' after acceptable temporary utility services have been provided . <br /> 4 . Demolish and completely remove from the site , existing underground <br /> utilities indicated to be removed . Coordinate with utility companies for <br /> shut-off of services if lines are active . <br /> D . Protection of Persons and Property : Barricade open excavations occurring <br /> ras part of this Work and post with warning lights . Operate warning lights <br /> during hours from dusk to dawn each day and as otherwise required . <br /> 1 . Protect structures , utilities , sidewalks , pavements , and other facilities <br /> from damage caused by settlement , lateral movement , undermining , <br /> washout and other hazards created by earthwork operations . <br /> E . Dust Control : Prevent air and water pollution through dust and dirt control to <br /> the satisfaction of the OWNER in the following areas : <br /> ' 1 . In the streets , sidewalks , and drives within the limits of the contract . <br /> 2 .
