' 3 . Take all necessary steps to prevent soil from eroding onto all paved <br /> areas and into all watercourses , ditches , and the public sewer systems . <br /> ' 4 . Comply with the above requirements on a daily basis . If the <br /> CONTRACTOR fails to perform the above work in a satisfactory <br /> manner, all work , except cleanup operations , will be stopped <br /> ' immediately until the CONTRACTOR has complied with the above <br /> requirement to the satisfaction of the OWNER or their ENGINEER . <br /> PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 1 SOIL MATERIALS <br /> ' All backfill material shall be either Type 1 , Type 2 , or Type 3 as described below . <br /> A . TYPE 1 - Type 1 material shall be either well-graded crushed stone or <br /> crushed gravel meeting the requirements of ASTM Designation C33-71 a , <br /> Gradation 67 (3/4 inch to No . 4 Sieve ) or air cooled blast furnace slag along <br /> ' or in combination with crushed stone and/or crushed gravel conforming to <br /> ASTM Designation C33-71 a requirements . <br /> 1 . Type 1 material shall be used as foundation material for manholes , <br /> drainage structures , pump stations and similar structures . <br /> B . TYPE 2 - Type 2 material shall be unclassified material obtained from the <br /> ' Contractor's excavations . The material shall be substantially free from <br /> wood , roots , humus , peat , muck , and other organic materials . It shall not <br /> contain clods , stones , masonry rubble , and the like greater than 6 inches <br /> through the largest dimension . In general , Type 2 material shall consist of <br /> sand , loam , sandy- loam , clayey-sand , gravel , or crushed stone . <br /> ' C . TYPE 3 - Type 3 material shall be select granular material , free from <br /> organic matter, of such size and gradation that the desired compaction can <br /> be readily attained and shall meet the requirements for A3 material accord - <br /> ' ing to the Revised Bureau of Public Roads Classifications , <br /> 1 . Unless otherwise shown or specified , material for filling or backfilling <br /> around structures shall be Type 3 . Advise ENGINEER in writing of the <br /> source and submit a sample of the material to the ENGINEER . Also , <br /> submit a signed and sealed sieve analysis from a Florida Professional <br /> 1 Engineer employed by the selected soils testing laboratory , and a <br /> statement from that Engineer that the material meets the requirements <br /> for Type 3 material . <br /> ' D .
