Paved areas and within 6 feet around the perimeter of paved areas - <br /> 98 percent of maximum dry density . <br /> 5 . Utility Trench Backfill : <br /> ' a . Pipe Bedding and Foundation - Compact the material below the <br /> bottom of the pipe barrel to 98 percent of maximum dry density for <br /> a minimum depth of 6- inches for the full width and length of the <br /> trench . <br /> b . Initial Backfill - Initial backfill is defined as the backfill from the <br /> trench bottom to 124ches above the top of the pipe . Compact to <br /> ' 98 percent of maximum dry density . <br /> C , Subsequent Backfill - Subsequent backfill is the backfill placed <br /> above the initial backfill . Compact to the limits denoted in <br /> ' paragraphs 3 . 11 . L . 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 , as applicable . <br /> 6 . Manholes and Drainage Structures : <br /> a . Bottom of Excavation - Compact the material below the bottom of <br /> the excavation to 98 percent of maximum dry density for a <br /> minimum depth of 12 - inches for at least three feet beyond the <br /> structure perimeter. <br /> ' b . If the specified densities are not obtained , perform whatever work is <br /> required to provide the required densities .
