' A . Grubbing shall consist of the complete removal of all stumps , roots largerthan 1 - 1 /2 <br /> inches in diameter, matted roots , brush , timber, logs and any other organic , metallic , <br /> ' or other debris not suitable for foundation purposes , resting on , under or protruding <br /> through the surface of the ground to a minimum depth of 18 inches below the <br /> subgrade . All depressions excavated below the original ground surface for or by the <br /> removal of such objects , shall be refilled with suitable materials and compacted to a <br /> density conforming to the surrounding ground surface . <br /> 1 . 5 STRIPPING <br /> A . The top six inches of the existing ground surface shall be considered topsoil . Reuse <br /> ' topsoil on the project site to the best extent practical , but do not use it inside the <br /> stormwater pond . Dispose of any topsoil remaining after all work is in place as <br /> specified in Section 02220 , paragraph 3 . 15 and Section 01543 , paragraph 1 . 8 . <br /> Segregate this material at the haul site from all other excess excavated material . <br /> 1 . 6 DISPOSAL OF MATERIAL <br /> ' A . No burning is permitted on -site . <br /> B . OFF-SITE DISPOSAL : Haul the material off-site and dispose of it in a legal <br /> manner. <br /> ' C . Obtain and comply with the provisions of all necessary permits and pay all <br /> required fees . <br /> ' D . Under no circumstances shall material be buried on -site . <br /> 1 . 7 LANDSCAPE PRESERVATION <br /> ' A . Take all steps necessaryto preserve the natural landscape . Conduct <br /> construction operations to prevent any damage or destruction to the natural <br /> surroundings in the vicinity of the work . Except where clearing is necessary <br /> for permanent works , approved construction roads and for excavation <br /> operations , all native vegetation shall be preserved and protected from <br /> damage . All movements of crews and equipment shall be performed in a <br /> manner to prevent damage to any public or private property.
