Promotion Board shall be required to provide alternate names to the list <br /> commensurate with the number of vacancies . <br /> 18 . 03 Each employee covered hereundershall annually receive a written <br /> evaluation assessing his performance of the essential functions of the <br /> employee's job . The Employer shall develop the appraisal form with input <br /> from the Union . <br /> 18 . 04 Newly hired employees shall serve an initial probationary period of one year. <br /> Newly hired probationary employees may be dismissed at any time at the <br /> discretion of the County and are not entitled to use the grievance/arbitration <br /> procedures relating to their discipline or discharge , and are not entitled to <br /> payments of sick leave or vacation leave at time of termination . <br /> 18 . 05 Employees who are promoted shall serve a promotion probationary period of <br /> six months . If an employee who is serving a probationary period incurred as <br /> a result of a promotion is found to be unqualified to perform the duties of the <br /> higher position , a good faith effort will be made to return the employee to the <br /> position and status held immediately priorto the promotion . If the employee's <br /> former position is filled , the employee maybe transferred to a vacant position <br /> for which the employee qualifies . If no vacancy exists for which the <br /> employee is qualified , the employee will be placed in a lay-off status with <br /> recall rights . <br /> 36 <br />
