to intersect with U. S. 441, and recommending that the County Commissioners obtain rights of ways and authorize preliminary surveys in advance of the possible extension of the Florida Turnpike. The Board requested this Resolution be filed. The Deputy Clerk stated that the pews that had been taken out of the Courtroom were in the basement and that inquiries had been made as to whether the Board was interested in selling them. After some discussion in the matter, Motion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carr-ied, that these pews should be advertised for sale to the highest bidder. The Chairman read a letter from the Gifford Recreational Center thanking the Board for their letter of congratulations and requesting help from the County for the clearing of the yard around the Civic Center and also some fill. The Board requested the County Engineer do this work for them. Curtis Hunter, Teacher from the Gifford High School was recognized by the Chair and requested the use of a voting machine sometime in May to be used for their school elections. The Board stated they would have to check with the Supervisor of Registration to see what could be done, and would let him know. The County Attorney made a report that the State Road Department has estimated that the cost of building A -1-A from its Northern limits to the Sebastian Inlet will be around $750,000.00 and this County's cost of the bridge would be about $250,000.00 or a total of around $1,000,000.00. He further stated the height of the bridge would have to be about 39 feet. The County Attorney also stated that nothing had been settled as yet • with the Florida Inland Navigation District on the Wabasso Island Park but that he is still working on it. He also reported he had received word that all of the major special acts for this County had been passed with the exception of the building code, and he would see what he could find out about this.
