F <br /> 26. 11 In the event of a combat injury, generally defined as occurring from the point of alarm to the <br /> return to station, an employee will be paid an amount equal to the employee's normal earnings <br /> by use of District funds or a combination of District funds and Workers' Compensation <br /> without charge to the employee's medical or annual leave. This coverage will be extended to <br /> other hazardous activities, if approved by the Director of Emergency Services, after a request <br /> for approval of such paid disability has been made by the Fire Chief and the union president. <br /> The Director's approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. <br /> ARTICLE 27 <br /> INSURANCE BENEFITS <br /> 27 . 01 A. Hospitalization, medical insurance, and retiree health insurance subsidy will be <br /> provided for all bargaining unit employees in the same manner and to the same extent <br /> as all other County employees. The County agrees to pay for the employee and the <br /> employee ' s dependent coverage, except that employees shall pay $ 167. 50 per month <br /> for dependent coverage commencing October 2004, <br /> Be The County agrees to bargain over the negotiable impacts, upon proper request, of <br /> any reduction in the amount or scope of coverage provided to employees and the <br /> family members. The County may, at its option, obtain coverage form a different <br /> carrier or provider, without being required to negotiate over the impacts with the <br /> Union, provided that the benefits remain similar. <br /> C. The County may, at its option, elect to have any future increase in the cost for <br /> dependent coverage absorbed by the employee, provided that employees under this <br /> contract shall be treated the same as the employees of Indian River County. <br /> D. If the cost of insurance payable by the employee is proposed to be increased by more <br /> than $35 . 00 during this contract, the Union has the right to negotiate over the <br /> increase, provided that written notice is given to the Fire Chief within ten ( 10) <br /> working days after notice of such proposed increase is given to the employees. <br /> 30 <br />
