Annual Update of Implementation Plan GIS Director <br /> On-site Technical Services GIS Director Ongoing, Until June 2007. <br /> Recommended Software Procurement for Remainder of Year One <br /> ESRI License Maintenance and Additional Licenses (62,900.00) - Highest Priority <br /> Through consulting services and interviews with the Indian River County GIS user community, <br /> it has become apparent that ESRI GIS software licensing and maintenance of licenses is an <br /> issue that needs to be addressed . The County should make efforts to consolidate its ESRI <br /> software maintenance contracts into as few customer numbers as possible and migrate <br /> licenses to a concurrent use model . Included in this procurement should be a copy of <br /> Arclnfo as outlined in the original plan . <br /> Benefits of Consolidating Maintenance and Purchasing <br /> Many customer numbers for Indian River County were found in ESRI ' s customer management <br /> system exposing the need to consolidate management to a county-wide software <br /> agreement with ESRI . Using county-wide maintenance management will provide the county <br /> with an accurate count of licenses, ability to maintain current maintenance agreements, <br /> and to transfer licenses among users as needed , <br /> Maintaining an accurate count of ESRI licenses within the county will allow for analysis to be <br /> performed on usage . Active usage analysis can provide insight into the impact of adding <br /> new GIS users into the collection of county GIS software , Knowledge of the demand on <br /> current licenses from an enterprise standpoint can minimize overlap of software usage - <br /> resulting in a more efficient GIS . <br /> Implementing centralized maintenance management will allow for all of the licenses to be <br /> purchased under a specific ESRI account . All maintenance costs can be bundled into a <br /> single quote from ESRI and paid on a specific date . This will minimize any confusion <br /> concerning the currency of a department ' s software maintenance agreements . All <br /> maintenance will be due on the same date and under one quote . <br /> Under a centralized maintenance structure costs of purchasing new software will be <br /> reduced . If an organization no longer requires a specific ESRI software product, another <br /> organization may assume the license, eliminating costs associated with purchasing new <br /> software licenses. <br /> In addition to these benefits, Indian River County will benefit by reduction in maintenance <br /> costs. ESRI requires one ( 1 ) primary maintenance agreement for every ten (10) concurrent <br /> software products per customer number. Under its current schema , the county is paying for <br /> one (1 ) more Arclnfo , one (1 ) more ArcEditor and (3) more ArcView primary maintenance <br />
