Human Services <br /> EffiH Departmental Structure and Functions <br /> The Human Services Department employs four full -time staff, including : <br /> • Human Services Director <br /> • Assistant Director <br /> • Case Worker <br /> • Intake Worker <br /> The Human Services Department has two main responsibilities : <br /> 1 . Welfare program for food and cash assistance <br /> 2 . Children services <br /> Two other key roles include providing general assistance programs aimed at restoring <br /> individuals to social and economic independence and providing services to needy <br /> individuals; these programs and services allow the Human Services Department to provide <br /> excellent assistance to Indian River County residents on an on-going basis . <br /> Other key responsibilities include : <br /> • Administering Grants <br /> • Monitoring Non-Profit Agency Programs <br /> • Extensive Committee/ Citizen Volunteers Contact <br /> • Community Outreach with Non-Profit Agencies <br /> Currently, the Human Services Department does not utilize any GIS technology . Hard copy <br /> maps illustrating specific areas requiring , or supplying children ' s services are provided on <br /> occasion by external sources . One employee has taken a basic GIS mapping course , but <br /> does not have access to GIS software . The majority of GIS users in Human Services will be Tier <br /> 3 GIS Users; ( see Chapter 2 : GIS Organizational Structure and Staffing for more information on <br /> Tier 2 & Tier 3 GIS Users ) . <br /> " _';9Existing Hardware and Software <br /> At present , there are four desktop computers being utilized by Human Services staff . All <br /> computers are running Windows XP or Windows 2000 operating systems and have access to <br /> the County network . <br /> The Department uses the following software packages at various capacities . <br /> " 1 . MS Office <br /> 2 . Munis <br /> 3 . Servicepoint Client Tracking System <br /> Recommended GIS Needs and Duties <br /> The Human Services Department is poised to take advantage of GIS in support of various <br /> departmental functions . The Department has several GIS needs , including : <br /> • Geo-Spatial Data Creation and Integration <br /> • Mapping and Spatial Analysis in Support of Human Services Operations <br /> • Disaster Preparedness and Post Disaster Response for Human Services <br /> 219 <br /> GIS Needs Assessment and Implementation Plan Chapter 1 - Departmental GIS Needs Assessment <br />
