� RL� ��Pr <br /> 4 �� <br /> °��+�' Community Development Department <br /> Departmental Structure and Functions <br /> The Community Development Department manages sixty-six full time employees including ; <br /> • Community Development Director ( 1 ) <br /> Building Official ( 1 ) <br /> Budget and Administrative Supervisor ( 1 ) <br /> Planning Director ( 1 ) <br /> Plans Examiner ( 6 ) <br /> • Building Inspector ( 18) <br /> • Contractor Licensing Specialist ( 1 ) <br /> • Building Support Specialist ( 1 1 ) <br /> Staff Director ( 1 ) <br /> Staff Assistant (3 ) <br /> Environmental/ Code Enforcement Section Chief ( 1 ) <br /> • Long Range Planning Section Chief ( 1 ) <br /> • Senior Planner ( 6 ) <br /> Planner ( 1 ) <br /> N0 Plan Assistant (4) <br /> • Plan Technician ( 4) <br /> • Code Enforcement Officer ( 5 ) <br /> ~ The Department of Community Development administrates land-use regulations , enforces <br /> building codes, prepares long-range plans to guide the orderly growth of the County, <br /> administers housing programs , and provides support for economic development efforts . <br /> To successfully manage its various responsibilities, the Community Development Department <br /> is divided into the following divisions: <br /> Building <br /> • Code Enforcement <br /> • Environmental Planning <br /> • Metropolitan Planning Organization <br /> Planning <br /> Building Division <br /> Indian River County ' s Building Division handles building inspections , new construction , <br /> electrical systems , storm damage assessment, alterations to existing buildings, unsafe <br /> structures inspection , complaints , and the Florida Accessibility Code and Energy Code <br /> provisions. <br /> Code Enforcement/ Environmental Planning <br /> Enforcing codes and ordinances enacted by the County to protect community standards is <br /> the main responsibility of the Code Enforcement and Environmental Planning Division .
