TLC personnel <br /> meet parents of newborns at Indian River County Hospital , which is followed up with a weekly, or <br /> monthly, telephone contact with the parent concerning expected behavior and to discuss any <br /> problems or concerns . There is also a monthly newsletter and other mailing covering a family's <br /> specific questions . An assigned caseworker remains with the family throughout the program and <br /> makes referrals to community resources . <br /> • Taxonomy: PH-620. 150 - Communication Training , PH-610 . 180 - Expectant/New Parent <br /> Assistance. <br /> • Focus Areas Addressed : Parental Support & Education <br /> • Number of children to be served : 1 , 657; adults : 1 ,426. <br /> Hibiscus Children ' s Center <br /> Crisis Nursery Program <br /> RECOMMENDED : $20 ,000 <br /> Requested : $20 , 000 <br /> This is a primary prevention program that families seek voluntarily. Crisis Nursery operates 24 <br /> hours a day, 7 days a week, for up to 4-5 weeks . Respite services , where parents voluntarily <br /> place their children at Hibiscus Children 's Shelter for short periods of time, provide children all of <br /> their basic needs , including therapy and counseling, medical care , educational assessments , and <br /> a wide variety of other services as needed . There is also a Family Support Program , which <br /> provides identification of problematic areas and solutions, formal and informal support systems, <br /> and resources available within the community. HOPE targets <br /> families who are at imminent/intermediate risk of losing their children , due to child abuse and/or <br /> neglect, or are in the process of high-risk reunification of children with their families of origin . By <br /> working with parents and children in their own environment, HOPE helps them resolve the crisis <br /> that has led to abuse — and keep them together safely as a family.
