In <br />SECTION 102 <br />MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC <br />A. General: Work under this section consists of maintaining traffic within the limits of the <br />project for the duration of construction in accordance with the U.S. Department of <br />Transportation's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 2003 Edition, FDOT <br />Index 600 Series and FDOT Standard Specification Section 102. The purpose of the Traffic <br />r Control Plan, presented in the roadway construction plans, is to depict the concept of <br />feasible construction sequencing and maintenance of traffic. The Contractor may submit to <br />the Engineer an alternate plan for review and approval, one week prior to the pre - <br />construction conference. The Traffic Control Plan indicates typical signing, marking and <br />barricade locations and types. Additional details are found in the MUTCD, FDOT Index <br />(600 Series) and Standard Specifications. The Contractor shall install only new TCP signs <br />and shall be Engineer quality. <br />B. Quantities: The Contractor is hereby notified that the Engineer's estimate of quantities, <br />which appears on the summary of quantities sheet, is provided only for the Contractor's <br />information. The Contractor is to determine the actual quantities and items to be used for <br />maintenance of traffic. <br />s C. Off-duty police or sheriff deputies shall be used during various maintenance of traffic <br />operations including: signalization adjustments and installations and lane closures of <br />duration greater than 10 minutes. <br />D. Compensation: All compensation for maintenance of traffic includes: barricades (Type ll), <br />Barricades (Type III), Temporary Pavement along CR 512 and variable message sign, shall <br />r be lump sum. This shall include all items and services necessary for the safe maintenance <br />of traffic within the project limits. This shall include, but not be limited to, flaggers, off-duty <br />police or sheriff deputy, construction and advisory signing, detours, temporary retaining <br />r systems, striping, maintenance of pavement, asphaltic concrete curb, temporary barrier <br />wall, stormwater removal, temporary drainage structures and pipe, pumps, commercial <br />material for driveway maintenance, flashing arrow boards, high intensity flashing lights, <br />removable and temporary pavement markings, and temporary reflective pavement markers, <br />temporary pavement, for maintenance of traffic. <br />Item No. 102-1 - Maintenance of Traffic — Lump Sum <br />E. Non -Compliance: Should the Owner or Engineer determine that traffic within the project is <br />not being maintained in accordance with the approved traffic control plan or presents a <br />public safety concern, the Contractor shall have until the end of the working day, in which <br />notification is given, to take action to modify the maintenance of traffic. Should the <br />Contractor fail to make such modification the Owner shall have the option to fine the <br />â€Ēr Contractor $450 per day until remedied. <br />W <br />M <br />M <br />
