SOD: The sod shall be of firm, tough texture having a compact growth of grass <br />with good root development. It shall contain no weeds, or any other objectionable <br />vegetation. The soil embedded in the sod shall be good clean earth, free from <br />stones and debris. The sod shall be free from fungus, vermin and other diseases. <br />2. N=S <br />r A. Fertilizer shall be Agriform 21 Gram Tablets, slow release, 20-10-5 analysis, or an <br />approved equal. Rates of application shall be as follows: <br />` I -gal. can plants 1 tablet each <br />3 -gal. can plants 2 tablets each. <br />r. <br />Palm trees (single stem) 6-8 tablets each <br />Palm trees (multiple stem) 1 tablet per each 3" of stem diameter: <br />cumulative diameter measurement. <br />Trees 1 tablet per each 1/2" of trunk diameter: for <br />• multiple trunks the diameter measurements <br />will be cumulative. <br />B . Starter fertilizer shall be 6-6-61 100% organic, with minor elements. This fertilizer <br />shat have 40To-50% of its total nitrogen in a water -insoluble form. <br />C. Lawn areas shall be treated with fertilizer applied at a rate of twenty (20) pounds per <br />1000 square feet. <br />D. Soil used for planting (planting mix) shall consist of 70% Florida native peat, 30% <br />• wood chips (pine bark passing through 3/4" screen) and sawdust, 3 Ib. starter <br />fertilizer per cubic yard. Soil mixture used to back fill planting pits shall consist of <br />two parts of existing topsail from on site, and one part prepared planting mix. <br />r <br />PART 3 - E3MCUTION <br />1. REARATION <br />A. SOIL TE5TING: The Contractor shall test.each site area for soil .pH. Provide and <br />supply such soil amendments as are necessary to adjust the pH range of rat h area to <br />r a level that will provide optimum conditions for the vigorous .growth of the <br />specified new plant material and grass (6.0 - 6.5). Submit test results and proposed <br />soil amendments outline to the Landscape Architect prior to amending sails. (Soil <br />r amendments N.I.C.) <br />B.
