SECTION 01543 <br /> MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC <br /> 1 . 1 GENERAL <br /> A . Implement a Traffic Control System as necessary, in accordance with <br /> Y ry, M . U . T . C . D . , <br /> Part IV and Florida Department of Transportation Roadway and Traffic Design <br /> Standards Index No . 600 series . <br /> B . Supply a Certified Worksite Traffic Supervisor for the duration of the project who <br /> ' has been trained and certified by the American Traffic Safety Service/Association . <br /> C . No additional compensation shall be made for compliance with these <br /> requirements . <br /> D . Keep all streets and trafficways open for the passage of traffic and pedestrians <br /> during the construction period unless otherwise approved by the ENGINEER or <br /> authority having jurisdiction over same . <br /> ' E . When required to cross , obstruct or temporarily close a street ortrafficway, provide <br /> and maintain suitable bridges , detours or other approved temporary facilities <br /> expedient for the accommodation of traffic. Give no less than 72 hours notice in <br /> advance of the time to close a street or trafficway or as may be otherwise provided <br /> in the Traffic Control Plan . Closings shall be effected only during non - peak traffic <br /> periods or as directed by the County Traffic Engineer. Closings shall remain in <br /> effect for the shortest time practical , and passage shall be restored immediately <br /> after completion of backfill and temporary paving or bridging . Obtain all required <br /> permits from the public authority having jurisdiction over the road . <br /> ' F . Whenever one or more travel lanes of a road will be closed for more than 2 hours , <br /> give 72 hours notice to the appropriate law enforcement agency and fire <br /> department , prior to commencing any work that will result in the closure . <br /> G . Give no less than 72 hours notice to owners or tenants of private property who may <br /> be affected by operations . <br /> ' E . Provide signs , signals , barricades , flares , lights and all other equipment, service and <br /> personnel required to regulate and protect all traffic , and warn of hazards . All such <br /> work shall conform to requirements of the authority having jurisdiction . Remove <br /> ' temporary equipment and facilities when no longer required , restore grounds to <br /> original , or to specified conditions .
