Enclosed are maps of
the composting site and application area, along with ownership and legal description
documentation as requested in the memo .
Green yard waste or ground land clearing mulch will be combined with a nitrogen source;
the material used in the compost will be delivered on site by covered trucks and dumped
directly on the composting pad. The nitrogen source i .e. (liquid ammonium nitrate, urea
or animal manure) will be applied to a layer of yard waste then the material will be mixed
with a loader and composted in pales, 10ft. to 12ft. in height. A conventional turned pile
or a forced air system pile will be used to produce the compost; the aeration system will
be automated to maintain ideal temperature conditions; where in the conventional pile the
material will be turned to help maintain the proper temperature. Moisture measurements
will also be taken and adjustments made to maximize the bio-reaction of the compost,
The material will compost for several weeks at a temperature of 40 to 60 degrees
centigrade to destroy thermo-sensitive pathogens, (fly larvae and weed seeds) . The
compost will be maintained at minimum operating conditions of 40 degrees C for five
days, with temperatures exceeding 55 degrees C for at least four hours of the period. The
material will be transported and spread in the surrounding 3000 acre grove at a rate of 1
to 5 tons per acre depending on soil type and condition, with a tractor drawn or truck
spreader. The site has limited access and is locked during non-working hours . If
undesirable material is received it will be reloaded if necessary on to the truck it was
transported on and returned to its point of origin.
