Comprehensive Plan Transportation Element <br /> POLICY 9 . 6 : The county will on an annual basis coordinate with the MPO to assess <br /> whether transit improvements should be included in the project priorities submitted to <br /> MOT for state and federal funding. <br /> POLICY 9 . 7 : The county will continue to provide funding for transit services . Currently, <br /> that funding is provided to the Indian River County Council On Aging . <br /> OBJECTIVE 10 LAND USE/TRANSPORTATION <br /> By 2010, the county ' s population density in the urbanized area will increase from 1 .4 persons per <br /> acre to 1 . 7 persons per acre in order to make transit more feasible . <br /> POLICY 10 . 1 : The county will implement Future Land Use Element policies which <br /> restrict urban sprawl , limit strip commercial development, promote infill, encourage TND <br /> projects, promote public transportation, and encourage higher intensity uses in major <br /> corridors . <br /> OBJECTIVE 11 TRANSIT COORDINATION <br /> Through 2020, the county will have a coordinated transit system. <br /> POLICY 11 . 1 : Through the County' s CTC, the County will ensure that transportation <br /> disadvantaged trips are provided through the coordinated system, whereby all providers <br /> and purchasers have contracts and fully allocated cost amounts . In so doing, the County <br /> will ensure that the CTC : <br /> Compiles information on routes, schedules, facilities and vehicles for each <br /> provider; <br /> Assesses this information and schedules trips to avoid duplication; and <br /> ° Regularly coordinates with providers to serve as a forum for discussing <br /> paratransit service <br /> OBJECTIVE 12 ADEQUATE INTERMODAL FACILITIES <br /> Through 2020, county aviation and intermodal facility demand will be met in a manner <br /> consistent with existing and future land use. <br /> POLICY 12 . 1 : The county will continue to implement and enforce its airport zoning <br /> regulations .
